Rwanda
Kingfisher Journeys
"As soon as I met the owner of this company I knew the quality was going to be fantastic. Steve Venton has developed an 'excellence' culture within Kingfisher Journeys, based on years of experience as a kayaking leader and his passion for outdoor adventures. We are very proud to be working with him.
The product is innovative, exciting and very professionally run. Kingfisher Journeys are setting the standards for active and adventurous journeys in Central Africa.

"Rwanda is more than gorillas"
WHERE
Rwanda
The Virunga Volcanoes & Lake Kivu in the African Rift Valley. The Land of a Thousand Hills is home to mountain gorillas and so much more!
WHAT
Multi-active adventures
They link kayaking, canoeing, cycling, forest treks and volcano climbs into spectacular multi-day journeys where traditional cultures and wildlife flourish in the heart of Africa. Lake Kivu is the largest lake in Africa without hippos or crocodiles, so this is the only safe location in the entire continent to do a multi-day kayaking trip.
WHEN
Since 2015
Three years ago Steve trained the first Rwandan tour guides to become British Canoeing leaders and kayaking on Lake Kivu was born. Now they have teamed up with other well established and reliable providers to create a combination of activity, cultural and safari adventures, unique in this part of Africa.
WHY
Rwanda is more than gorillas
They deliver unique, world-class adventures and exciting, rewarding journeys for visitors. They believe strongly that by helping to create real jobs for local people, they can support proud local cultures and assist with grass root’s initiatives that protect and enhance the local environment.
WHO
Steve Venton
No-one can be more passionate about Rwanda than Steve. He is a British Canoeing Advanced Water Leader and coach with 20 years paddling experience. He’s also a qualified mountain and expedition leader who’s travelled across half of Africa. His sheer enthusiasm for what he does is utterly infectious.
