The Adventure Connection is offering a unique opportunity to join a fantastic team of travel professionals. We are the UK's leading B2B adventure travel marketing and representation agency and have a global network of travel clients who use our services to help them to promote their businesses, primarily to the UK travel trade.

We are a growing organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism and are now beginning to focus on representing locally-owned and sustainably-run hotels, lodges and camps as well as increasing the number of supporting events that offer sponsorship opportunities.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientated ‘Business Development Manager’ to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing exciting DMCs and properties around the world for The Adventure Connection to represent. The role requires a clear understanding of what Tour Operators look for, combined with proactive, independent research and follow-up to find and secure new business.

Requirements, responsibilities and expectations

Key Responsibilities

● Revenue Generation. Achieve quarterly sales target for: a) sustainably run

hotels/lodges/camps and b) sponsorship packages for our events

○ The ideal candidate will research potential new prospects (Properties and DMCs) for The Adventure Connection to represent. They will then need to find out if they are open to representation and are aligned with our ethos. If so the candidate will help to pitch to them about how the Adventure Connection works, in order to win new business

○ In addition, we are also growing the event management side of our business. For this we will expect the candidate to research suitable event sponsorship partners and approach relevant companies who will appeal to the target audience. We expect the candidate to create and promote different packages and pitch the benefits to potential partners in order to secure sponsorship revenue


● Lead Research & Contact Management. Conduct thorough lead research

and leverage existing contacts to secure sales opportunities


● Utilise office systems & tools: Effectively use Pipedrive CRM system,

Asana and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) for tracking leads and

managing tasks


● Company Standards: Adhere to company processes and standards relating

to pricing, presentation, spelling and grammar


● Event Participation: Attend pre-approved events in the UK and overseas to

achieve sales targets, with expenses covered by the company


Success in the role

Success in the role means winning relevant business for the company and

exceeding sales targets. Winning relevant business is important. We only work with

professional and reliable DMCs and properties who deliver something beyond the

ordinary, are fully committed to positive impact travel and are fully able to meet the

needs of the UK market. We have a broad portfolio of loyal clients who stay with us because we deliver results, helping them to become more profitable. So happy clients means regular contract renewals.


Experience and skills required

● The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the travel industry

(ideally more than 10 years experience of working in Sales and/or Marketing

or Product for a U.K. travel company)

● Strong communication and negotiation skills

● Proficiency in using CRM tools and Google Workspace

● Familiarity with sustainable tourism practices is a plus

● Existing contacts within the industry (i.e. DMCs, hotels/lodges/camps, airlines,

tourist boards and other relevant industry partners)

● Experience with sponsorship sales or events

Compensation

● Salary £38k

● Plus quarterly bonus for meeting sales targets (equates to 15% of salary over

the year)

● Annual bonuses based on performance metrics (equates to 10% of salary)

● Statutory Pension Scheme following completion of probationary period
