The Adventure Connection has signed up to Tourism Declares, an initiative that supports tourism businesses, organisations and individuals in declaring a climate emergency and taking action to reduce their carbon emissions.

As part of this initiative, The Adventure Connection commits to accelerating its own emission reductions in line with IPPC advice that the world needs to cut global carbon emissions to 55% below 2017 levels by 2030.

The Adventure Connection aims to have a positive impact on the environment by being a leading voice, an educator and influencer of the industry on relevant sustainability issues.

We commit to the following five actions:

1. Develop a ‘Climate Emergency Plan’

Our Climate Emergency Plan is available here. As well as monitoring and offsetting our own company emissions, we raise and share information with our extensive industry contacts on topical issues, by providing practical tools and advice and making relevant connections; and by challenging outdated ways of thinking.

2. Share our commitment and progress publicly

We are proud to share this initial public declaration, our ‘Climate Emergency Plan’ including details on how we have committed to carbon offset our company. We will share updates on progress against targets each year.

3. Cut carbon emissions

We accept the current IPCC advice stating the need to cut global carbon emissions to 55% below 2017 levels by 2030 to keep the planet within 1.5 degrees of warming. Our ‘Climate Emergency Plan’ represents actions designed to achieve this as a minimum, by delivering transparent, measurable and increasing reductions in the total carbon emissions arising from our operations.

4. Work together

The Adventure Connection encourages clients, contacts, suppliers and partners to make the same declaration. We will share best practice amongst peers and we will actively participate in the Tourism Declares community.

5. Advocate for change

We recognise the need for system change across the industry, and call for urgent regulatory action to accelerate the transition towards zero carbon air travel.

We encourage everyone who reads this to sign this declaration:
