Kyra Marchena Villalobos leads reservations and sales for Playa Cativo. Kyra graduated from the National University of Costa Rica with a degree in Sustainable Tourism Management. She has 14 years of experience in the tourism industry and four years as Reservations Manager at Playa Cativo Lodge. Kyra enjoys working with companies that blend tourism experiences with sustainable practices and a dedication to protecting the environment.

When

Established in 2012, Playa Cativo was founded with the vision of setting a new benchmark for sustainable stays in Costa Rica. Having completed its final development phase just before the pandemic, the lodge is now emerging as the go-to place for travellers seeking authentic, adventurous and environmentally-conscious escapes.

Positive impact statement

Playa Cativo Lodge is currently undergoing the audit process to obtain the Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST). The hotel proudly holds the Blue Flag Ecological Award with two stars in the beach category. In addition, Playa Cativo protects more than 400 hectares of rainforest within its privately managed reserve, which borders the Piedras Blancas National Park, forming an essential corridor for wildlife conservation in the region.
